Sunday morning it was raining, cold and dark outside. Not to worry because I was able to spend some time indoors with this precious little lady and her mommy for a few hours. Moms, you know that new baby smell? No, not new car smell! Your baby smells of softness and newness. She’s fragile and beautiful. So perfect! The very moment she is born, she takes your breath away! This is true for every mommy, new and experienced. There’s a special sweetness you have with your baby when you bring her into the world! All her little details mean everything to you. The way her toes curl, the little bits of fuzzy hair on the top of her shoulders, her long fingers that wrap so perfectly around yours…
It takes a special kind of love to be a mommy. It’s patience, admiration, devotion. Little Makayla was just as wrapped up in her mommy as Nikki is with her. This sweet lady fought sleep to listen to everything around her and stare into her mommy’s eyes. I noticed the one thing that calmed her most was when Nikki cuddled her close shushed her softly. Witnessing this kind of love is so beautiful!
