My goodness, I’ve been itching to share these for weeks! I’m so excited to show you! This was my very first time shooting a traditional wedding, and I had the honor of working with my super hot husband ;)
March 18th, 2011
Phillip & Helen Larrea are married!
The day before the wedding, I met with Helen and her sister to go over last minute details and to view the venue. Everyone was working hard to get everything in order before the big day. It was gorgeous! The only problem?
Rain was in the forecast, and it was an outdoor ceremony.
The morning of, I met with Helen and her bridal party while they were fancied and made pretty. I watched as Helen nervously fumbled with her cell phone, tapped her toes on the salon chair, you could feel her excitement flowing through the room! The girls joked, went over their speeches, and made sure Helen knew how gorgeous she looked while they were being pampered.
I met everyone back at the venue about an hour and a half before the ceremony was to begin. The wind was starting to pick up, and the clouds were coming in. I was nervous.
David worked with the Phillip and his grooms men, snapping photos as they were getting ready, goofing off, and finishing up last minute tasks. I stayed with the girls, watching as the excitement grew. Family members would come in to peek at the bride, aweing at her beauty. It’s pretty amazing to stand back and see just how things swirl around at weddings. All I could think of was how nervous Helen must have felt, overwhelmed maybe. She didn’t show it though. She was graceful, beautiful, a little shaky, but never stopped smiling.
It was time.
And it was starting to rain. I looked through the double doors out into the courtyard at all the guests huddling under their umbrellas. Raced back to see if the bride was ready, and by the time I was outside finding my spot to shoot, the rain stopped. Amazing!
Even though the rain had disappeared, it was still cloudy and windy during most of the ceremony and just after. When the sun did finally decide to shine through, we pulled the bride and groom away from their guests just in time to get private photos of just the two of them. I cannot resist that golden sunlight!
Helen and Phillip, thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of the one day that marks the first day of spending the rest of your lives loving each other! We wish you many years of happiness!
