Kosareff Spring Family Session | Bakersfield Photographer

Ahhh this spring family session kicked off my spring season with so much love and happiness! I met the Kosareff family first when they visited me for this sweet little lady’s newborn session a year ago! I’m always so amazed at seeing these cuties a year later. They’ve grown so much and their personalities have blossomed. My heart overflows seeing them again.

I offer family session, or any outdoor sessions really, during the spring and fall seasons only. I have a waitlist that I recommend signing up for if you would like to receive seasonal openings first! I don’t advertise or share seasonal session info anywhere but in the email twice a year. Oh Nora, you sweet little lady! I was so happy to meet you and plan for your session. Your mama requested something with a little boho feel and I flew away with that! I planned your session with lots of textures, knits, furs and succulents. I wanted it to be feminine without being over the top so that you’d stay the focus and my goodness. You stole the show and my heart! I first met your family when they visited me for your big brother’s newborn session. Milo was a perfect gentleman, as you can see! You totally lived up to what I was hoping for when I met you too! You look so much like your big brother, but all yourself too. You’re dainty and perfect and so so loved by your entire family! Welcome to the world sweet girl!

Newborn Photographer Bakersfield

In July 2010 when I opened my photography business, I never would have imagined that I’d specialize and be a newborn photographer. It’s HARD, it’s posed, and it’s redundant. Everything I wanted to steer away from when I got started. I can’t tell you exactly why studio newborn photography really grabbed me because it was a slow transition over several years. There were plenty of sessions that I finished feeling near tears because I just didn’t seem to get it right and no matter how hard I tried I just wasn’t good enough!

I was an “everything” photographer. I photographed anything that came my way. It never felt like me though. Specializing in a specific genre of photography was something I was desperate for. Instead of being okayish at everything, I wanted to be really great at something specific.

I never gave up though. Something about these precious little ones, seeing their parents stare at them with so much joy and inspecting their every perfect detail. Every bit of it gave me the mama feels and I craved that sweet connection and photographing it for others. I took several workshops over the years, investing in my business and education. After trying to deny my emotional pull towards newborns I finally gave in and took a workshop focused on lighting and posing newborns. It was the aha moment that changed everything for me! I finally found my grove and became really comfortable posing newborns in a safe way and lighting them in a flattering way.

This year I celebrate 8 years of living my dream photographing your special moments and my heavens I’m so thankful! This January was the 3 year anniversary of me saying YES to newborns and choosing this genre to specialize in. I’m so thankful for everyone who chooses me to photograph their newest family members!

Every year I hold seasonally family sessions available in spring and fall seasons only. Every year my heart is filled because I get to photograph the sweetest families! Most of the year I spend my time in my home studio photographing newborns, which I totally love but it is so nice to get out and explore with all of you while the weather is nice!

Rett | Newborn Photographer Bakersfield

Life as a newborn photographer is pretty interesting. You see things differently and you envision ideas almost everywhere. The long standing “can I fit a baby in that?!” is too real! Thrift shopping often means touching textures, measuring baskets and buckets to your forearm and planning sets in your mind. Finding the perfect props that aren’t over the top and match my rustic meets minimalist style is pretty darn exciting!

I used some of my favorite finds in Mr. Rett’s session here and he looks so stinking adorable all wrapped up! Mama & dad brought a few of their favorite things to include in his session, like the felted bear bonnet that I’m so in love with and colorful wraps. I love when parents bring something special for their little one’s session, it makes it a teeny more personal than I could.

Ellie, 6 month milestone session | Bakersfield Photographer

Sweet Ellie girl! I love this precious baby’s little personality. She’s always full of smiles and so so interested in everything going on around her. Happy 6 month’s little lady!

Milestone sessions are perfect for documenting your baby’s monthly milestones. I recommend them for ages 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. Milestone mini sessions include a 20 minute session here in my home studio and 5 of your favorite images for digital download.
